One step forwards, 2 steps back

That is the story of my life. Last month a real estate friend of mine was able to take me to go see three townhouses in this gated community that I've been wanting to check out for the longest time. Out of the three, I fell in love with one of them. The third one had the most awesome mural of an Italian countryside painted from entrance all the way up to the living room/kitchen area. Now even though I thought the mural was awesome, I didn't fall in love with this place...one being the owner living there had all the shutters shut tight so it looked kind of dark and gloomy (so first impression didn't go well) but mainly because it was the most expensive out of three even though all three have the same floorplan. Anyhow, the price range of these townhouses are still a bit on the high end for me but I have to say, it's more do-able then last year. So the slight drop in price made me a bit happy that I actually set up an appointment with a lender from my credit union. I've met with him to discuss what I would need to do. I was suppose to meet up with him a second time but that didn't happen and since then everything has been at a stand still. My lender thought that if my parents co-signed, I would have a better chance of getting a better loan. At first it seemed as if my parents agreed to it but now I seemed to get this sense of indecisiveness on my mom's part. It's a bit frustrating because she isn't clear about what she wants to do. First she says she wants to help and the next, it's like she's second guessing everything. I realize she's not a risk taker...she never was...she was always apprehensive and very undecisive that's she's missed several opportunities but she is really making me pull my hair out with this. So as frustrated as I am, I think I'm just going to go forwards on my own, without her help. Probably better this way in the long run anyhow. Besides, I checked on line and it appears the place I fell in love with is off the market. So I guess there's no point in even filling out a pre-approval...

Good for you for looking to buy. Always a good investment. And go forward with the pre-approval process for a loan. Ok, so this one isn't available but there'll be something else. And when you find that perfect place, you'll be able to make the offer right away with no worries. There'll be no delays from that aspect. It'll also let you know exactly how much you can spend. If your parents won't help you but you can get a loan on your own, go for it. Only hit your parents up if there's no other way. Better for your credit.
